Robots can take a lot of different shapes. They can look like animals,
or humans, or just about anything else. Some of them even take the shape
of a bouncing ball. A new robot that was designed and developed by a
team at the Robotics and Cybernetics Research
Group at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid takes just that shape.
The robots, dubbed the Rosphere, is designed to work in less than ideal
This is a good idea if you want to use robot
on a farm, in a disaster situation, or anywhere else that the ground
around you is going to be less than perfectly flat. After all the
multi-sided sphere has the ability to move from place to place without
too much stress. The research on the sphere shaped robots is not
completely new. Various armed forces use sphere bots research, but the
benefit of this robot is its simplicity, which will would keep the costs
down if they are ever mass produced.
