The Tick Mark Wristwatch: A Unique Way To Tell Time

What is this thing? What is this thing?

This is the Tick Mark Wristwatch.  Sure, it looks cool.  Confusing?  A little, at least to me.  It looks more like some sort of heart monitor.  Or like an insidious device that the bad guy in a Bond movie would use to start the countdown on a doomsday weapon.

The watch has a display made up of 28 LEDs.  These light up next to engraved Arabic and Mayan numerals to display the time, date, and day of the week.

Carry the 5, subtract 3, multiply times Pi and you get... 8:13 p.m.Carry the 5, subtract 3, multiply times Pi and you get... 8:13 p.m.

Seriously, the way you read this thing is easy, though it may take a bit getting used to.  The image above truly does show the watch displaying 8:13 p.m.  The left column indicates eight hours; the right column indicates 13 minutes.

I have to admit that the Tick Mark is quite appealing to the eye.  The sapphire-blue dial allows the LEDs to stand out, making for easy reading (or counting, as I would have to do).  This is mounted in a stainless steel case with a crystal face.  The band is also made of stainless steel.  This design makes the watch water resistant up to 164 feet.

Be warned, however.  This thing comes at a steep price: $249.  Style is never cheap...

You can get your Tick Mark Wristwatch at Hammacher Schlemmer or Amazon.
