Toyota Corolla ESport Nürburgring Edition: Sportiest Corolla EVAR

The Toyota Corolla isn't exactly the epitome of sporty automobiles so naming one after Germany's legendary Nürburgring road-racing track takes a lotta brass. An extrapolation of the Toyota Corolla ESport, the Nürburgring Edition debuted at the 2015 Bangkok Motor Show and will only be sold in Thailand.

There's an ostensible reason for linking the names Corolla and Nürburgring: a Toyota Corolla Altis finished 7th in its class at the Nürburgring 24-hour endurance race last year. Could there have been more than seven entries in that class? If not, Toyota ain't sayin' and if so, anyone who finished behind a Toyota Corolla is similarly silent.

In any case, Toyota doesn't get the chance to trumpet much more than fuel economy, reliability and class-leading sales figures for its mild-mannered compact so finishing a race at the vaunted Nürburgring is welcome cause for celebration... and a special limited edition Corolla, it would seem.

What do buyers of the Toyota Corolla ESport Nürburgring Edition get besides exterior paint choices limited to Black Mica or White Pearl? Try a more aggressive front bumper/fascia with a piano-black grille in front, a deck spoiler and faux diffuser in back, and 17-inch alloy wheels in between.

Interior upgrades include black leather-wrapped seats and complementary red inserts on the dash, door panels and floor mats. Last but not least, red & white “24h Nürburgring” stenciled badges grace the Corolla's front fenders.

Sorry, Jackie Stewart wannabes, the Toyota Corolla ESport Nürburgring Edition is powered by the same 4-cylinder, 1.8-liter, 141 HP (104 kW) engine and CVT transmission as those found in lesser Toyota Corollas. (via Indian Autos Blog)
