I count myself among the unlucky few who've not yet gotten the chance to play Grand Theft Auto V. See, I'm doing this weird thing where I'm trying to play through the massive backlog of titles I've already got before I go buying anything new. So far, it's not really working all that well.
Somehow, my games library keeps expanding.
Ah, but I'm rambling again. We're not here to talk about my gaming (or spending) habits. We're here to discuss GTA V - or rather, a very specific element of the game. See, a lot of the stuff in Rockstar's latest entry into the GTA franchise tends to be a satire of the real world. That, of course, includes the in-game cell phones through which your characters communicate: the iFruit.
Somebody over at Mobile Fun thought it might be entertaining to own an iFruit of their very own. Now, since designing, manufacturing, and programming a completely new mobile device for the sake of parody is probably taking things a little far, they did the next best thing: they designed a skin. The iFruit Conversion Skin is designed for the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S, and retails for $12.99 plus shipping.
Aside from the fact that it's more GTA swag (which I suspect is going to be enough of a reason for most people to buy it), it's actually a really well-designed skin. The price isn't too shabby, either - I've seen skins and protective cases go for upwards of $20 or $30.
I'm rambling again.
The iFruit Conversion Kit is composed of vinyl; designed to fit perfectly over the phone. It adds less than 1 mm of thickness to the handset, and as an added bonus, it'll protect your device against scratches and scuffs. Pop this skin on and install the iFruit iOS app, and you're probably as close as you're ever going to get to owning an iFruit. Well, for the time being anyway. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see someone design a custom iFruit-inspired GUI for jailbroken devices.
