New York's Design Week 2010 opens tomorrow at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, and Brooklyn's UM Project is ready with several new furniture designs. But what exactly is this design? I'll give you a hint: don't let the toy-like appearance of the Unidentified Magical Object fool you... there's plenty of function here.

Though the above photo places the UMO in a street scene, the UMO is an interior piece of furniture, a perfect piece for a NYC apartment or an apartment just about anywhere else. And sure, it can be used in a child's room as well as your living room.

Made of sustainably harvested cork, the imaginative design is multi-functional. It can be a bench, coffee table, desk, or end table depending on how you position it and what you need it for at any given time. It's lightweight, so it's easy to move around or lift to where you happen to need it. And the aluminum insert can be customized in the color of your choice.
