The Regional Blanket by Vik Prjonsdottir: Eyjafjöll volcano
The map of the Eyjafjöll volcano... It's already been designed. And exquisitely so. In a blanket. The Regional Blanket by Vík Prjónsdóttir of Vikwool, a knitting factory in southern Iceland.
This handmade beauty was designed by Prjónsdóttir in 2005. At approximately 90 by 60 inches, The Regional Blanket depicts the volcano's eruption, the hot springs, and the snow. The contrasts are marvelous and the design shows the artist's deep appreciation of his homeland.
