Want To Channel Your Inner Viking? Get A Drinking Horn

The drinking horn has a long history throughout Europe, though it seems to be most readily associated with Vikings quenching their thirst in large quaffs. It seems that a new modern version designed for coffee is destined to make a comeback worldwide. It has been redesigned by a guy in Slovenia to serve the international obsession with java and the need to make it as portable as possible. The result is the Goat Mug.

Among the modern upgrades to this ancient idea is a lid that closes tightly to keep the liquid inside and yet will open for drinking with the flip of a finger. It is also made from BPA-free plastic and comes in your choice of black or white. There is also a faux leather band around the mug that slips off to provide you with a way to set the horn down. You can even get it with a convenient set of carry straps to give your coffee hands-free portability.

Carrying your Goat Mug with you can even make a cool fashion statement as it combines sleek, modern lines with a cool bit of history. In the past these horns were often used in sacred rituals which makes it perfect for the brew we now worship.

Anze Miklavec has put the project on Kickstarter to get things going and it is a go and then some. It is designed to be dishwasher safe and to keep your coffee hot for up to two hours. It is definitely the sort of thing that will make you stand out in a crowd.
