Want To Cook Something New? How About Using A Condom?

No, this isn't the beginning of some lame dirty joke. The condom cookbook is a real thing -- in Japan. The book is titled "Condom Meals I Want To Make For You." I hope that the title is catchier in Japanese. In English it just kind of lays there on the page. The ebook is filled with 11 supposedly delicious recipes that involve the use of a condom in the preparation. Fortunately it does not actually require the eating of the condom.

The recipes reportedly include such gourmet delights as escargot (snails) sautéed in butter, condom cookies, and condom meat stuffing. That last one sounds a lot like sausage to me, but what do I know? I can't read Japanese. That last recipe alone could lead to all sorts of off-color jokes.

It does sound pretty strange to use prophylactics as a cooking tool. It could be pretty hilarious in the wrong hands. To be honest, the book is not so much about cooking as it is about educating people about condoms. It was created to promote safe sex, and to demonstrate the ease of use and the durability of condoms.

According to the website NariNari, Japanese men are the "third worst" in the world in the use of condoms to prevent disease transmission and unwanted pregnancy. This means that there needs to be a strong push towards education and promotion in the use of condoms. Perhaps using them in the kitchen will make it easier for men to use them in the bedroom as well.
