Want A New Tent For Camping? How About A Doughnut?

Camping is a great hobby that many of us enjoy. And some of us like to go old-school with a tent and that can be a real hassle even with some of the newer ones. Designers Sungha Lim, Hyunmook Lim, and Han Kim have created a new concept tent that can provide camping in the round -- or a number of other shapes. Then tent is a collapsible tube that is known as The Camping Doughnut.

The Doughnut is modular sort of tent so that you don't have to keep it in a circle. You can do an S shape, or a C, or even use it straight. It actually takes two tents to make a complete doughnut. The design allows you to play with your camping space to create an enclosed area, or a leeward area to stay out of the wind. Inside the curves can be used to help make private space -- something that is often at a premium in regular tents.

This isn't one of those luxury tents, so there is no running water or rooms for the staff. It is a tent for people who really want to go camping but don't want to exactly rough it. There are several windows in the tent so that you can have a view and set up cross-ventilation on a hot day.

The idea of transporting the tent can be a bit daunting at first glance, but it does collapse down to a flat pack and can be transported on the roof of a car or SUV with the use of a special roof rack. It is also supposed to be easy to set up.

I just don't know about the color. I keep expecting to see a toxic waste warning on the ends. Other than that I am so in!
