Want To Play PS4 Games On Your Smartphone? Sony's New Xperia Phone Can Do That

Good news, everyone! This week, Sony announced a new Smartphone; another model in the Xperia line. Bear with me here - it's a lot more exciting than it seems.

See, the Xperia Z3v has an incredibly cool feature offered by no other Smartphone to date - it can use Remote Play to stream PlayStation 4 games. In other words, with the Z3v, you'll be able to play PS4 games on your phone. The Z3v releases on October 23.

Now, here's the bad news - the Z3v is a Verizon-exclusive model. What that means is that, unless you're willing to sign up for a contract with Verizon, it's probably way out of your price range. Those of you who are in the market for a new phone can pick a Z3v up for $199.99 with a two-year contract.

Alternatively, you can simply wait until November, when Sony plans to make the Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and Z3 Tablet Compact into Remote Play devices alongside the Z3v and Vita. At this time, the feature will be exclusive to Xperia-brand devices. That may change in the future.

Along with the Xperia Z3v, Sony also announced a new peripheral for the PlayStation 4; the GCM10 Game Control Mount. Basically, it's a holster for your Smartphone/tablet that clips onto a Dualshock 4 controller. In case, y'know, you don't really want to use a touchscreen for gaming (you don't, trust me).

You can read more about the Z3v here.

Anyway, Remote Play on Smartphones. It's awesome, and Sony is making it happen. That's pretty much it. You folks have yourselves a great weekend; I'll see you on Monday.

Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving if you're a fellow Canuck.
