Want To Reduce Your Waste? Eat Your Coffee Cup

KFC is teaming up with Seattle's Best Coffee in introducing an edible coffee cup called the "Scoff-ee Cup." The first ones will be sold in certain select stores in England later this year. The concept is designed to reduce waste and the billions of coffee cups adding up in landfills. KFC is about as well known for making coffee as Seattle's Best is for making chicken. This partnership could change all that.

The cup itself is made from a cookie. It is coated on the outside with printed sugar paper and coated on the inside with a thin layer of heat-resistant white chocolate. That inner layer melts slowly as it keeps the cookie from getting soggy. Once it has dissolved it moistens the cookie just enough so that it melts in your mouth. When you are done so is the cup. There is nothing to throw into a landfill.

The cup was designed in collaboration with scientists at the Robin Collective. They have selected to infuse different cups with scents to help improve your mood. These scents include Coconut Sun Cream, Freshly Cut Grass, and Wildflowers. These scents evoke memories of warm weather, good times, and summer vacations.

With the huge competition in the coffee business KFC and Seattle's Best are going to need a good hook -- and this may be just the one to work. There is no word on when, or even if, the Scoff-ee Cup will make it to the U.S.
