Want Something New In A Banana? Well, Stuff It!

For the most part the same old banana is just the same old banana -- that is unless you choose to stuff it. But how does one stuff a banana? It is hardly like filling a cannoli, which is hollow. Enter the DestapaBanana, a gadget that allows you to fill the popular fruit with whatever you can think of -- either solid or liquid. While most people are going to think first of a banana filled with chocolate syrup or chocolate pudding, but there is so much more out there to experiment with!

This gadget is the brain child of Argentine inventor Sebastian Berger. It operates much the way an apple corer does by taking out the center of the fruit. It leaves the peel intact to keep your creation together. So what goes inside? That is entirely up to you.

If you want to stay on the healthy side you can fill the banana with chopped walnuts, yogurt, apple sauce, sunflower seeds, or even crushed pineapple. For the rest of us there is caramel, the pudding of your choice, dulce de leche, butter cream frosting, jam, peanut butter, almond butter, lemon curd, honey, mini chocolate chips, crushed Oreos . . . oh, the list could go on forever.

It may seem like this is just adding extra calories, and that may be. But it can also be a way to trade up a healthy treat by making it more interesting -- or making the humble banana worthy of special occasions.
