Want To Wake Up To A Fresh Cup Of Coffee Next To Your Bed?
One of the hardest things that any of us face in the course of the day is getting up in the first place. And for nearly as many of us we aren't worth squat until that first cup of coffee has been fully infused into our bloodstreams. There have been coffee makers with timers that have been readying the java for decades, but now you can have an alarm clock by the bed that has that first cup ready to go when it goes off.
While some may class a device like this as showing how lazy we are getting, I say that it is making sure that the jet fuel is already on the tarmac before the jet is wheeled out of the hangar. You can also look at it as a way to give yourself breakfast in bed without hiring a butler. Okay, you also have to hide a doughnut in the nightstand for that one.
British designer Joshua Renouf, no doubt in the throes of serious caffeine withdrawal, has created the "Barisieur," a combination of an alarm clock and coffee maker. Instead of jolting you awake with a blare of noise that requires you to peel yourself off of the ceiling, this gadget gently rouses you with the jostling of stainless steel ball bearings that heat the water through induction.
The unit comes complete with a vial for keeping milk or creamer if you want, and a tiny drawer for keeping fresh coffee grounds and sugar. There is absolutely no reason for you to get out of bed before your first cup of coffee unless nature is calling too urgently. Even if it does, a fresh cup of coffee is a great excuse to crawl back under the warmth of the covers for a few precious moments to prepare for the day ahead.
All you need to do is fill up the machine with water and coffee the night before to be all set for coffee Nirvana in the morning. With the alarm set the machine takes it from there to wake you with a fresh cuppa Joe.
