Apparently there's no end to what can be deep-fried. Just ask state fair concession chefs... or anyone who's ever been to a state fair. Texas, not just king of barbecue, but ultimate connoisseur of deep fry, has a contest at its state fair, where concessionaires compete for best deep-fried concoction. Stand aside heart valves: here comes deep-fried butter.
Deep-fried butter is Abel Gonzales's entry in this year's contest. Abel has won three of the last four contests and this year's competition is only the fifth the Texas State Fair has held. Gonzales, who quit his old day job as a computer analyst because his Fair business has been so successful!
“It’s funny, because being at the state fair is the total opposite of being a computer analyst,” he told NBC's Today Show. “I finally kind of figured out that I was in the wrong field. ... I’ve been really lucky — really, really lucky. I can just do this for the three weeks out of the year and that’s pretty much it.”
We should all be so lucky.
Gonzales won the past Texas contests with Texas Fried Cookie Dough, Fried Peanut Butter, Jelly, and Banana Sandwich and Fried Coke.

Before you go barf in the bathroom, let me change the subject.
How about batter-dipped, deep-fried macaroons filled with peanut butter cups? That's one of the entries that will compete with deep-fried butter this year.
Or batter-dipped, deep-fried chicken and guacamole-stuffed-cherry peppers? That's another entry.
Oh, I know... Battered, deep-fried pecan pie with caramel sauce, whipping cream and chopped candied pecans!
There are more, but I don't want to push my luck...

Submitted on September 15th, 2009 by AnonymousHere at the Wisconsin State Fair we had a new product made by a local restaurant that was Chocolate Covered Bacon. YUM!!! Only 1 or 2 slices. Can't eat more than that at one time.
