Elegant Toilet Paper Rolls Take Eco-Crafting To Another Level

Yuken Teryua doesn't do it for the environment. He doesn't just do it for politics either. He just takes regular household items that would otherwise be thrown away and he turns them into art for what seems is the love of art.

Wallypop Brings Reusable to Question

Should some things just not be reusable? Personally speaking I don't have a problem with using recycled toilet paper. Sure it isn't soft toilet paper, but it also doesn't require deforestation or the use of dangerous chemicals to make it. What I'm not so sure about is going a step further, for the sake of the environment or my wallet, and using reusable Wallypop wipes.

Project Green Prom Contest Ends March 30th

For some teenagers there are only a few months left before prom night arrives. While many of these teenagers are buying new dresses, new shoes, new jewelry, renting limos, etc., others are a concerned about the carbon footprint prom night leaves on the planet. To encourage a greener prom, maybe a greener lifestyle too, high school juniors and seniors are encouraged to enter the Project Green Prom Video Contest.

Burial Space Running Out: Could Promession be the Right Option?

I first wrote about biologist Susanne Wiigh-Mäsak and her cryogenic technology with dead bodies in October of 2007. She was 8th and favorite on my list of eco-friendly burial options. Nearly 2 years later her freeze-dry technology is placed top of the list as a possible eco-burial option for East Lothian.

Live Bath Mat Dries Feet And Grows

What if you could bring that barefoot-through-the-grass feeling indoors with you? Would you do it? La Chanh Nguyen brought the feeling indoors with her except instead of grass she used moss. Then she planted the moss in a bath mat made of decay free foam. She calls her living bath mat Moss Carpet and so far, it is my favorite green find of the year.

Amorim understands how beneficial cork is and is why Amorim started ReCork America.

Send Your Valentine Recycled Elephant Poop

The title is meant to catch your attention and maybe even make you smile, but seriously Uncommon Goods is selling an alternative eco-friendly solution to fresh cut flowers. So, this year instead of buying your loved one perfumed pesticide-filled roses, which by the way will die in a few days, consider these roses made with elephant poop.

Breath Into the Eco-box And Make Fuel

These days it seems everything can be turned into fuel: cooking oil, garbage, corn, algae, etc. I never imaged an airport full of people's breaths could be converted into fuel too. If the idea seems a little far-fetched, it isn't. The breaths we exhale could one day be recycled into fuel. Liverpool John Lennon Airport, in Liverpool, U.K will be the first to test the idea this year, with the Eco-box.

Vertical Wind Turbine Could Be Successful

Imagine spending your life savings on an invention you are sure will someday be successful, even if skeptics think it is impossible. It's pretty risky right? Well Adam Fuller from Racine, Wisconsin has done this very thing. He has spent his life savings designing an invention he believes in, a vertical wind turbine. Will it work?

Great Green Valentine Day Gifts For The Tacky and Mushy

The following environmentally friendly Valentine  gift ideas are the kind of gifts that your loved one will not be too excited about when he/she gets them, but will be kept in a shoe box in the top shelf of the closet for years to come as proof that you cared enough to give something this tacky and mushy. It's absolutely my favorite type of gift. A lot of time, love and  thought (about you and the environment) goes into it.

5 Favorite Indoor Plant Systems To Give Your Valentine

A bouquet of organic flowers is a beautiful gift of appreciation, but beautiful as it is, cut flowers die quickly. What better way to say I Love You to your loved one then to send him/her an indoor plant system that will live for months or more and at the same time serve as home décor? Help your loved one clean their indoor air quality, help the environment and decorate their home with an indoor plant system like the ones listed below.

Hybrid Toyota Prius Used To Power Up a Refrigerator and More

It turns out Hybrid vehicles do more than just save gas. In times of crisis such as power outages due to severe weather (ice storms or hurricanes) a Hybrid vehicle which produces and stores electricity in its battery can be converted into a generator and used to power up a home. It's true. In fact, it has already been done a few times.

Adam Norton’s Apartment Inside an Armoire

My husband and I bought an armoire a few years ago from a consignments store. We fell in love with at first sight and it appeared to be worth every penny we spent on it (a couple of hundred dollars), but alas when the center right door fell off 3 weeks ago we began to wonder if there was a way someone could restore or recycle it for us. We never imagined turning our armoire into an apartment like Adam Norton did with his.

Pet Fur Recycled Into Human Clothes

If you thinking making clothes out of human hair is weird how would you feel if I told you humans are making clothes from their pet's fur? It isn't much different from using sheep's wool or natural animal fibers from Alpaca, Angora, Llama or Camel. Right? Danelle German doesn't think so.

Cancer-Stick Clothing, Eco-friendly?

You see them littered, in the grass, in your flowerpots, on the streets, in the sand at the playground, in the sand at the beach.... everywhere. They are an eyesore, toxic to the environment (start forest fires, small animals ingest them and die, chemicals leach into our water supply) and a daily reminder of how wasteful we can be with even the smallest of objects. What are they? Littered cigarette butts. What's being done about the litter? Alexandra Guerrero is recycling them into clothing.

Dead People Bring Heat to Crematorium

To those of you who like to begin the New Year thinking gloomy thoughts, here is an eco-gloomy issue/question to think about. Is it okay for a Crematorium to use the smoke from cremated bodies to save on their heating bill? What if in doing so they also help clean the environment?
