It is clear, we are a nation of extreme wealth. Otherwise, we would not lavish the type of dollars we do to keep our dogs "happy". At times, I think dog owners are simply crazy, not just crazy about their dogs...just crazy, cuckoo, wacko - as in not quite in touch with reality. I may be wrong. In anticipation of my favorite holiday, I decided to write articles this entire month dedicated to the best of day of the year, Halloween. So what do I like about Halloween? One thing about Halloween I enjoy is the celebration of death and the macabre.

One of my sons is going off to college this year. It got me thinking of what I need to send off with him so that he has everything he needs to be successful in school.

I guess success means different things to different folks. For me, success means the obvious things like my kid does not flunk out. It also means that my kid is popular and know as one of the cool kids and not one of the dorks.

Watches. I love watches!!

One of the best things in life is a really great watch, but I like watches to tell time. Others like their watches to do just about everything, including the dishes and the shopping.

I was sitting at a restaurant the other day, watching a mom and a dad arguing with their little girl about whether the dad should take a new job. ... It's clear that the parents had lost control of their obnoxious daughter, but I also thought it clear that they had also lost control of their senses.

This incident got me wondering about whether we have gone too far in spoiling our children. We let them make decisions they should not make, do things they should not be doing and buy junk they should not have. I think some of us may spoil our children too much, and in that way fail our kids as parents.

I don't know about you, but I am involved with a woman. That, by definition means that whenever she and I go out together, I somehow end up holding her purse. I don't know what it is with women and their purses. My lady can't go anywhere without it, but then tries to dump it on me every chance she gets.

Waiting around the mall this weekend bored out of my mind, I realised that I really I should be able to do something to make it more fun for a man to hold a woman's purse.
