Some years ago a friend sent me a 'tart warmer'' for Christmas. Tarts in this context are like mini candles, but they don't have candle wicks. They are not meant to be burned directly, but warmed by another heating element, like a tea light or light bulb. And boy, does a tart warmer emit fragrance! Candle burning doesn't compare!

The 11th annual Toy Of The Year Awards (TOTYs) were presented last night at a shindig marking the 108th American International Toy Fair, which opens today in NYC. The TOTY, for those of you who are superstitious, not only celebrates its 11th year anniversary in 2011, but it awarded 11 prizes in 11 different categories, plus the overall best toy that received the Toy Of The Year award.
Father's Day. When you get to my father's age, it becomes quite difficult to find something original as a gift. Ties, while quite nice, are well-overplayed and no longer an option. Take him out to lunch? Sure... but again, not the most original of ideas. Movies are a good idea... but unless it's a drafthouse, it's really not that special.
