Cyber Monday Goes International As Japanese Online Stores Offer Hefty Holiday Discounts

Cyber Monday is the new black - Black Friday, that is. This November 30 marks the start of the 2009 online sales blitz and it's no surprise international retailers are jumping on the bandwagon. And why not? The online world knows no boundaries, making your computer into a one stop, one shop shopping portal.

One of my fave Japanese online stores is Strapya World and I've posted reports on their cool, weird, cute (and all of the above) items for a couple of years. Now it seems Strapya has caught wind of the whole Black Friday and Cyber Monday phenomena, and though they can't do much about the former they're taking full advantage of the latter.

Here's the deal: you get 10% off on any purchase or combination of purchases totaling more than 3,000 Japanese yen (about us$35 at the current exchange rate). It's fairly easy to cross the 3,000 yen threshold if you've got a few friends, family members or co-workers on your holiday gift list and the items Strapya features make unique presents most folks on this side of the pond have never seen before.

Strapya also has an ongoing Points Program and for the duration of the sale period purchasers receive TRIPLE points on all purchases.

The sale period at Strapya World, by the way, stretches from November 27 through December 27 which is noteworthy in itself as it starts BEFORE the official date of Cyber Monday on November 30 and runs past Christmas Day, just to keep yourself covered if the holiday gifts didn't shower down upon you & yours in sufficient amounts.

Cyber Monday... a pretty cool concept. "Cyber Month"? Pretty awesome!
