Actually Buckingham Palace was fitted out with computers well before many government buildings were. The British Monarchy has always managed to keep up with technological advances and in some cases encouraged these advancements, i.e. Victoria's encouragement of telegraph & telephone innovation, Edward VII helped popularize cars in the early twentieth century, and the royal family today are always banging on about increasing internet service to rural areas.
