Product Review: The JumpSnap

When it comes to a challenge, unless it's illegal or immoral, I'm pretty much willing to accept it.

So, a little over a month ago, after reading my article, featuring the JumpSnap, the jump rope without a rope, Brad LaTour of JumpSnap challenged me to actually give the JumpSnap a try. I was happy to do so and rose to the challenge. After all, what's the worst that could happen? I'd exercise more?

One trial month later, I have to say, it isn't all that bad! But it isn't all that good either. What I mean to say is that I wasn't 100% satisfied. Still, I did see potential in the JumpSnap and believe with a few minor changes I could find myself appreciating this exercise tool and using it on a frequent basis. read more »

Junk Mail Makes Great Gems

How much junk mail do you receive in the mail everyday?

According to New American Dream, "More than 100 million trees' worth of bulk mail arrive in American mail boxes each year - that's the equivalent of deforesting the entire Rocky Mountain National Park every four months." Most of us, if we don't recycle our junk mail, we throw it away, but we never really think much more of it. Fortunately, there are people like Gretchen Fleener, an industrial designer, who have found ways to make good use of junk mail. read more »

Real estate, real estate...that's all I hear about these days. First, prices are going through the roof. Now, supposedly, prices are caving in. Who cares?

All I know is that with prices so high, I can not afford a decent sized place to live. The way my cash flow is going, I may have to move into some teeny tiny space which is more aptly described as a closet than a house.

Assuming that everyone is just like me, boxed in and feeling wretched, I decided to help my fellow small space dwellers by finding items of furniture that can help you save on space.

This furniture gives you 7 Ways to Live in a Closet or Other Cr@ppy Tiny Little Hole in the Wall That You Call Home: read more »

Chocolate Billboard: Inventive Marketing

The website Nothing to do with Arbroath shares a unique way of promoting a chocolate makers wares, a real edible billboard made with 860 pounds of chocolate.

The Easter creation, a world first, was made of 10 chocolate bunnies, 72 giant chocolate eggs and 128 chocolate panels, each weighing 2kg.

The billboard took three months to plan and 300 hours for the team of 10 to build and was expected to last a week but alas was devoured by Londoners in less than three hours. (Source and photos at BBC)

Popable, Shareable and Eatable Fashion

Along with working out and feeling good on the inside it would be nice to also look good on the outside. Unfortunately, with the decline in my fitness, my sense of style has diminished too. Naturally I've turned to magazines, friends, family and the ever so versatile internet for some help. Though all the tasteful tips and advice have been useful and appreciated, nothing has been more eye opening and entertaining as the search for style on the internet, be it my style or not.

Ewaste Makes N+ew Seat

Sometimes when in search for something, such as the remote control, what you find instead: your lucky pair of frog socks, 2 dollars worth of quarters and an unexpectedly good poem you wrote several years ago, makes your search all worth while. Whether you find what you were looking for in the first place or not it feels good to know that your search still lead you to something more exciting and possibly more valuable. A few days ago my day kind of went like that.

Reading from the About My Planet online green news, I came across a strange and funny picture of a person dressed in a Selk Bag. A Selk Bag is a wearable sleeping bag. read more »
