Mark Zuckerberg has been called a lot of things, but 'comic book action hero' is not one that comes to mind. However, with Facebook movies (Catfish & The Social Network)
gaining a lot of buzz at theaters nationwide, "nerd" as anti-hero seems
to be the latest trend. Who would have guessed that a "social media
thriller" could actually become a new literary genre. But seemingly that
is the case with a new comic book and graphic novel written about the
world's most ubiquitous social network.

Foursquare and Gowalla - two of today's leading location-based social networks - introduced us to the power of "check-ins."
However, all such networks were based on location and identifying
venues for users and followers while on-the-go!. For those, that may be a
little bit mobile-challenged and prefer to check-in without leaving the
comfort of one's couch, GetGlue.com might just be the social network for you!

Twenty-one First Ladies, including Michelle Obama, have pushed
healthy diets as their main projects. I guess they should have found
different causes to get behind, because in spite of their efforts, the
efforts of the medical community, the insurance industry, the health and
fitness industry and many more sectors of the economy... we keep eating fewer and fewer of them.

The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York City has a special and vast exhibit of 20th Century kitchen designs happening now. In going through the complete online guide to the exhibit, which really
just touches on some items in the complete collection, what fascinated
me most is one of the earliest kitchens in the MOMA show, that
of architect Margarete Schutte-Lihotzky's Frankfort Kitchen, designed in
1926-27.

In days of yore when it was believed the Earth was the center of the
Universe, it was a harsh reality when we learned we were only one of
many planets that circled the sun. Today, the same could be
said for the U.S. and Americans' belief that we generate more
interaction on social media channels than the rest of the world.

While most children ardently believe the magic conjured up by Harry
Potter and his band of wizards is the real deal - they soon learn to
file those beliefs away, alongside Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy.
Fiction is make-believe and scientific proof is another thing all
together. That was, until augmented reality kind of blurred the literary
landscape.

The time period from campaign promises to delivery has traditionally
been lengthy. The public voted for the candidates of their choice based
on a belief that they were going to live up to their word. From start to
finish, this process usually took one to two years - the duration of
which became increasingly frustrating when candidates failed to deliver
on their promises.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is one of the most devastating injuries that
can occur. It can affect muscle function, including respiration,
transmission of messages to the brain, elimination function, heart
health as well as other normal biological and physiological systems of
the body and brain. This is why stem cell researchers have made spinal
cord injury one of their first treatment goals. And a small trial, led
by neuroscientist Hans Keirstead at the University of California, Irvine
(UCI), is about to begin.

With a limited amount of time left to work damage control, Mark
Zuckerberg has been diligently trying to improve his self image,
tarnished by movies and books that have spotlighted some of the young
CEO's not so shining moments. Now ranking thirty-fifth on the Forbes' annual list of wealthy Americans and worth $6.9 billion, Mr. Zuckerberg is using his vast riches to help with his corporate make-over.

Debuting at 100% Design in London this week is the clever
patterned tablecloth that welcomes spills of any kind, even wine.
Created by Norwegian designer Kristine Bjaadal, the Underfull Tablecloth
appears at first like any other tablecloth - beautiful white linen with
a floral pattern. But unlike other tablecloths, when you spill your
gravy, your soup, or you drool your chocolate ice cream on it, you will
be seen as a poet instead of a slob.

The excitement of Digg recently reinventing itself to resurrect social
bookmarking as a viable news service dissipated as fast as it was
introduced. Folks have found Twitter and Facebook more reliable
resources for gathering and saving real-time news.
