Cedarville University Wins Solar Splash 2007!

When I first read about the solar energy boat race, Solar Splash, I was immediately intrigued. Though I don't like open waters; therefore, will not get on a boat, the combination of solar energy and cleaner transportation in competition has had me tempted to face my fears and give these solar powered boats a try. I think it's an innovative idea with wonderful educational opportunities and a great start to the building and using of non-polluting, fuel-free vehicles (land, water and air) of the future. read more »

Waterproof 12V Solar Panel Review

I love solar energy, because it frees us from high electric bills and because it allows us to use the sun to power our electronics. If you want to learn about solar power the Waterproof 12V Solar Panel from Scientifics is a smart simple way to introduce you and your family to the power of the sun. In other words it can take the heat and a beating. read more »

Sideways Bike?

Some people like to do things differently. If they didn't we wouldn't have inventors or weird people. Michael Killian is an inventor. He is a 46 year old software engineer from Dublin, to be exact, who recently invented a Sideways Bike and, not too long ago, invented the Sideways Scooter. Some people may think a Sideways Bike is a little weird, but I think it's oddly creative. read more »

Solar Garden Light: Product Review

It was nice to finally have a chance to try out a solar garden light. I had considering purchasing one when Scientifics sent me one to review. I was impressed by the simplicity of this Solar Garden Light. There really is no wiring or assembly required. All I needed to do to make it work was take it out of the box, push a button to turn it on and then set it in the sun in my garden. read more »

Solar Dough : Product Review

If you have kids and you want to teach them hands-on about the power of the sun, Solar Dough is a good way to start. Watch them pull it apart and mash it back together as they "ooh" and "awe" over the different colors that it turns to in the sun. That's what my little ones did. They watched their solar dough turn from blue to darker blue to purple and then, just as advertised, back to blue in seconds when taken out of the sun. The smiles on their faces were enough to say to me "this is fun!" read more »

Water-Safe Baby Carrier

With summer fast-approaching, visions of the dreaded heat and humidity press tightly on my mind, like a hot, wet cloth. Oppressive and uncomfortable, the Midwest summers can nearly kill you or at least obliterate any fun outdoors - especially for my family. We all dislike the heat. Staying at home with the kids, cooped up in the deliciousness of air-conditioning can only last too long. Boredom sets in. Quick as a wink, I'm out the door, having packed everyone up for an afternoon at the pool. I love the water; its blue wetness dazzling in the glaring sun. Watching the children swimming their hearts and summer away is amazing. I love to hear their ecstatic squeals of laughter echoing off the water.

Ball of Fun

The 84" Giga Ball is bright red and loads of fun, once it's fully inflated.

The inflation takes some time and patience as the ball does not come with a pump, but once it's done, the kids will not want to leave it. Children can crawl into the ball and roll about inside it while someone rolls the ball around.

Get ready for hours of shrieking joy... read more »
