As a update to our article "Calling All Inventors:Everyday Edisons is Looking for Inventors for Its Show", we wanted to remind inventors that Everyday Edisons®, auditions are being held in San Diego, California this Saturday, February 24th, 2007.
Here's are some excerpts of the most recent press release we received from them:
NEW PBS SERIES SEARCHING FOR ORDINARY PEOPLE WITH EXTRAORDINARY IDEAS
Bouncing Brain Productions is coming to San Diego to give the region's residents the opportunity ... to transform their ideas into real, marketable products through its new Public Broadcasting System television series, Everyday Edisons®.
San Diego will host the show's only casting call located on the west coast. Participants simply bring their prototype, sketch or concept to San Diego State University's College of Extended Studies (5250 Campanile Drive, San Diego, C.A. 92182) on Saturday, February 24. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and those who arrive by 1 p.m. will be guaranteed an interview before a panel of judges. The day's top finalists will be escorted next door to KPBS' television studio for review before the final filmed panel of judges.
To educate America about what it truly takes to bring a product to market, the show follows ten ordinary people - "Everyday Edisons" - as their ideas are refined, produced, marketed and sold. Participants are selected through a casting call process where they present their ideas before a panel of product development experts and patent professionals.
Inventors who are chosen for the show will have their ideas commercialized, and in return receive a 20-year annuity on product sales. There is no cost to the inventor, and the show invests nearly $500,000 per product chosen.
The first season premieres this May on PBS, and follows the development of inventions chosen from last year's casting calls in Tampa, Columbia, S.C., Nashville, Atlanta and Charlotte.
