World's Smartest Beach Bag

A round beach towel that easily converts into a carry bag with a pull of a drawstring. It's a round beach towel/blanket. It quickly and easily converts from a towel to a bag thanks to the ingenious but simple drawstring woven at the perimeter. With a quick pull of the cords... zip... you have a beach bag to carry all your stuff in. One side is nylon, to wick away sand and water. The other side is terry... oh so cozy. And it's round, which means you don't have to turn your towel as the sun moves. And... it's cool! Once pulled closed, it can be thrown over the shoulder or worn back backstyle.

Just wondering... well, i thought that one of the good things about having a normal blankt at the beachwas that you could shake the sand off when you went home, i think that this is a lovely idea, but when you get home and you open up your nifty bag, wouldnt sand pour out?? i can understand that you have a side that keeps away sand and water but at the beach anything sould happe, including your baby digging up sand and piling it ontop of the blanket...

good one... clever, fun,

good one... clever, fun, simple...

couldsee that selling big with localized graphics or license.

Wider shoulder straps would be nice for that 1,000 pounds of baby gear people need at the beach .

I was working on this idea back in 1993 but did not follow through. It is a wonderful concept for beach-goers and boaters alike. I would like to discuss a business opportunity with you.

I've made these for years

I have made quite a few of these except I use them as toy bags and laundry bags. Much easier to get kids to pick up toys if all they have to do is shove them onto a large flat circle and pull the string!

Great idea, the sand should ot be an issue

When you get to the parking lot take the toys otu and shake everything off including the towel, put it in your trunk and you are ready for the beach once again.Or get home just lay the beach towel out on the grass or driveway, shake the sand out of everything and then store the toys for the next trip to the beach.

Sand Sun Skinny straps

I actually found this while doing a search for big beach bags, I like some parts and not others.

I am a uninformed consumer, I dont know anything about inventing but I know what I like.

its too big I am 5' tall this would drag....making it useless to me and most moms.
The straps look like rope, yuck it seems painful looking on the guy in the picture.

The little white pocket is a great idea sorta, i assume its to carry important things like I.D. or money but when the bag is being used as a blanket its on the bottom in the sand, yikes!
It also isn't secured close with a zipper or snap. I would like it if it was completely sealed in with a zipper and was in a vinyl or plastic water and sand proof lined pocket.

Sand sticks to everything and everyone even if you shake and shake so I wouldn;t be too disappointed if some sand was toted back in it, but maybe some sort of mesh in the fabric could handle some of that, i mean once its in its bag form some carefully placed mesh pieces might allow sand to come out the bottom.

lastly it needs to be cute and this isnt cute, better colors and combos please!

I would pay around 35.00 for a towel bag that met the above requirements and maybe 40.00 if it was done in really nice fade proof fabric.

Sands not a big issue

You can still shake the towel out if you like. And less stand will stick because of they nylon side. What makes it great is that you have one thing to carry everything.

Putting a small hole dead center with a mesh opening might make for a nice sand escape hatch.

I like that I could throw everything into my truck, and it would act as the rear trunk mat that I could shake out when I get home.

Seems to be a great idea.

i guess the same reasons for

i guess the same reasons for not having a hole in the center could be used to argue with putting a hole in the center, no matter how small it may be. You could place a hole int he center but if its going to let sange escape easily, it will also let sand in easily, i know when im not a blanket or towel at the beach there is a lot of adjusting and moving around.

Mesh middle

Why don't you add a mesh middle to allow the sand to exit the bag when sinched?

Padding for shoulder

It looks like a great idea! However, I recommend adding some type of padding latching system that holds all the drawstring together (possibly with the ability to shorten them toting things) and provides for more comfort when carrying. Those ropes would just cut into the shoulder, even if carried across the body. A mesh hole to let sand escape is a great idea.

I'd also suggest using padded quilted colorful soft terry-cloth or micro soft material on one side, and a soft waterproof material on the other. Oh, and some hidden pockets along the perimeter that zip or hook -n-loop- close would be a nice feature.

Good Luck!

This is what every parent needs for the Lego corner, where the bricks get dumped out and are hard to pick it for Legos.

I agree

I agree with you. The sand wouldn't come from the sides but people's feet and bodies will be sandy and as soon as they step or sit on the bag, it will cluster with sand. It's a smart idea, just needs to have details worked out.

Beach Bag - drawstring

Make this in washable material.
Before you fold this up, wash it with water and wash away everything.

I live in Idaho with 4 kids. I always carry a beach towel to use for all kinds of purposes! Incorporating the bag idea is just fantastic and serves more of a purpose than just the "beach" bag! wow why didn't I think of that!

Have you found someone to help market your Idea?

Take everything you hear and put a very large filter on and then gather what is positive and void out the rest. I would be interested in talking with you if still in need of directions with both sales and markets for use of your product.

The Blanket Bag!

I just thought this name would be a good, simplistic alternative to your current.
