Locust Bike a Good Investment?

It has been years since I've ridden a bike, other than a stationary fitness bike. I've thought about it a lot, but never really did anything to get back on one. Besides, there aren't many places around where I live to ride a bike without needing to drive several miles to a park. I could risk the busy streets, but I think my bravery flew out the window as soon as I had kids.

Then a few months ago my daughter received a bike as a gift and it got me thinking about how nice it would be to go bike riding with her, even if just at the park. It would give us a chance to bond more and exercise together.

Lucky for me someone sent me a link to, The Best of the Best: Folding Bikes at Ecogeek. There I came across bike after bike that could easily fit in the trunk of my small car. But it's the bike that isn't yet available that captured my attention the most. I don't know if it's the Dr. Seuss appearance, its ability to fold up into a circle or its bright colors that call to me and say "Give me a try!" I truly wish I could give it a try, but the Locust bike is still only a concept.

However, the designer, Josef Cadek, is on a search for someone to invest in the development and production of this unique bike. Read about his description and plans for the Locust here. Would you invest in it? Would you ride it?

In the mean time I will see what I can do to find another bike I like. Then maybe on the next beautiful sunny morning like today she and I can ride along side eachother and enjoy the day.

I like how this bike looks

I like how this bike looks also. It's kind of different but not so wacky that it looks impractical.

I was thinking the opposite!

Everytime I see a picture of that bike I think how UGLY or unattractive it is!  It is "different", but I wouldn't call it "cool".  It doesn't even look comfortable.

Damn. That's ugly.

Damn. That's ugly.
