One Cool Ad Campaign: Take a Lick!

We've all seen scratch and sniff ads in our favorite magazines, but what about flip and lick ads?

Welch's will be running magazine ads this month that actually allows readers to sample its grape juice by licking the ad!

According to Wall Street Journal, the company is taking out full-page print ads in People that give readers a chance to sample its grape juice by licking the ad.

The front of the advertisement shows a huge bottle of the juice, while the back has a strip that peels up and off, with copy that reads: "For a TASTY fact, remove & LICK."

Surprisingly, this is not the first run with lickable ads.

According to Wall Street Journal, CBS was one of the first companies to offer them in a marketing campaign. The CBS ads ran in copies of Rolling Stone magazine in New York and Los Angeles last fall and gave readers a taste of lime-flavored mojitos. The ad promoted the fictional rum brand that is central to the plot of the CBS series "Cane," which stars Jimmy Smits as the head of a family that owns a Florida rum business.

Would you lick your favorite magazine?

What do you think of the idea of "lickable" ads? Does the thought of licking a page in your favorite magazine give your tongue the "yummy-factor?" Or the "ick-factor?"
