Bring the Noise - and Art - With Artcoustic Speakers

Want to blend technology and design in the most appealing of ways? Artcoustic speakers may be the way forward.

One of the must-haves in any home is some kind of sound system - that's a given. And technology has made it so you can definitely get more bang for your buck in terms of superior sound from smaller speakers, but how about eliminating the traditional speaker all together and instead transforming it into sleek and modern art? Now that's what I'm talking about.

This Dutch company knows how to bring it, in both high style and sonic performance. Artcoustic has a combined state-of-the-art sound systems with a series of customized flat panel screens that disguise the traditional utilitarian speaker. Clients can choose from several stock images that were commissioned by their hand-picked artists, or they actually have the option of designing their own piece from a photograph. Enhancements to the graphic include Warhol-esque varieties, bold black graphics on a color background, pixilated, or "Che" (as in Guevara) styles. The client also chooses the speaker style and size and after several drafts, the final product is born. Talk about the ultimate in customization.

Aside from private commissions, Artcoustic's portfolio includes several large-scale installations in hotels throughout Europe and elsewhere. Their latest endeavor was for a private home in Dubai last month.

So, if you've got some dough to throw, you too could join the ranks of sound-savvy interior fashionistas for a gentler, more "growed up" brand of art and music appreciation. Just let those beats drop any which way they can, is what I say.
