Sony Introduces New Sugar Powered Bio Battery

Earlier this week, on August 23, Sony announced the development of a bio battery prototype that generates electricity from sugar. A bio battery is an electricity generation device that uses energy sources such as carbohydrates (ex: sugar), protein, amino acids and fat by digesting enzymes. The bio battery works by pouring sugar solution into the unit, where enzymes break it down to generate electricity.

Battery test cells have generated up to 50 milliwatts. This output is the highest for a bio battery of this type according to Sony's statement released in Japan this week. "The output of these test cells is sufficient to power music play back on a memory-type Walkman." This is enough electricity to power music playback on a memory-type Walkman

Sony has also made the battery casing of a vegetable-based plastic. The casing measures 3.9 cm (1.5 inch) along each edge.

Verizon is about the only place you can get the authentic RIM product and matching door. Most other sites are out of stock and even when they are in stock they have the black battery door which looks like crap. http://www.batteryfast.co.uk
I tested this camera for a client. I didn’t have the light running for more than 15 minutes. The battery lasted approximately 6 hours before recharging. The LCD, however, had a few dead pixels - never saw this before. Tried returning for exchange and had to put up quite a fight. Anyone else seen this? http://www.batteryfast.co.uk
