Skin MD, Shielding Lotion and My Soft Hands : Review

A few weeks ago, a 4 oz sample of Skin MD Natural, a Shielding Lotion for the hands, face and body, was sent to me to test and review. I have used it about 3 to 4 times a week. In particular, I have applied it to my hands, elbows, feet, face and knees. I have also allowed my children to use Skin MD on occasion. Below are the results.

Smell. I like my soaps, lotions, and any other skin product to have a nice subtle scent. Although Skin MD may be fragrance free it has this nice subtle calming scent to it. The scent reminds me of the way a newborn baby's hair and skin smells. It's nice.

Viscosity. In my years of buying and using lotions I have used various types of lotions to fight the dryness of particular parts of my skin, like my hands. I have found in the past that the thicker the lotion the better it felt and moisturized my skin. Unfortunately, these same lotions also left behind an oily residue too. Which is fine with me if I'm not going to use my hands for a while, but usually I have to get right back to work. Skin MD is different.

Skin MD doesn't leave behind an oily sticky reside on the skin like some of the other lotions do. In fact I can rub lotions on my hands in the middle of typing something up, like this review, wait a few seconds and then get right back to typing. My keyboard buttons do not become oily or slippery either.

Ease of use. When I first tried Skin MD it felt a bit awkward on my hands, as it was thin and slightly runny. I found this later to be very helpful in spreading it around my skin. Skin MD absorbs quickly and easily into the skin. Just a little really does go along way. Unlike thicker lotions I did not have to massage it deeply into my skin.

Soft. As of this moment my hands are very soft. My feet bottoms are another story, though I will admit I have not been diligent about using Skin MD on the bottoms of my feet as I have on my hands. I also walk around barefoot a lot so my feet tend to be a bit rough.

Ingredients. Some of the ingredients that Skin MD contains are: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract (Aloe Vera), Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract (Chamomile) and Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E). For a complete list of ingredients go to the Skin MD website where you will find a list of ingredients as well as a description of each one of the ingredients.

Additional benefits. Skin MD has not been tested on animals, is dermatology tested, hypoallergenic, paraben free , Non-comedogenic (will not block pores) and is fragrance and colorant free.

Another way to interpret the demo

The rock demo is a bit of a sham. When the acid hits the rock, it undergoes a chemical reaction that neutralizes the acid making it harmless to the skin.

It would be more impressive if they just poured the acid right on their hand. Of course, we know the Skin MD won't protect from that.

Skin MD

It does sound good. I’m an artist and find that the oils and solvents I use are always drying my hands out and leaving them dry, cracked and sore. This sounds great, especially as it’s non greasy and lasts so long. It seems to be getting some good press too and is worth checking out - Skin MD Natural in the UK. It uses a new advanced scientific proprietary formulation which, apparently, has a moisturizing factor 6 times greater than glycerin, the standard humectant (water absorber) against which all others are measured. It is a shielding lotion which bonds to the skin to keep the irritants out, moisture in and protects the skin in a way a normal moisturizer can’t. Well worth a look.

tatoos

i just got a tatoo and was wondering if skin md would help the healing proccess and keep my tatoo looking nice.
