Israel to Install Innovative Motion Sensors

The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) is considering a move to install underground motion sensors at Israel's border with Gaza. These innovative new sensors, developed by Sonic Lynx, are capable of discerning different objects, including humans, animals, and vehicles. According to Sonic Lynx' CEO, the sensors distinguish objects by using "seismic and acoustic fluctuations".

Sonic Lynx, an Israeli company, installs hundreds of small sensors underground at a target location; this enables the sensors to detect objects up to 200 m away, giving precise information regarding intruders to a person at a command console nearby. Several companies around the world currently use Sonic Lynx sensor systems. An undisclosed U.S. airport is also considering a deal with Sonic Lynx.

A portable version of the sensor system is also currently undergoing testing and is meant to be used by mobile military units. The portable version will give soldiers an advance warning of approximately 20 seconds before anyone advances to their position.

Just a small correction

Actually, the image shows a unit of Border Guards. Techincally they belong to the Police, although their training is similar to military training.
