Everyone I know with a dog thinks they have the best idea for a pooper scooper.  Well, here's a new one: the Dog Dung Vacuum... a pooper scooper with power!

Though it's reported that British pets suffered, gift-wise, from the downsized economy this Christmas, the American Pet Products Association estimated that 53 percent of dogs and 38 percent of cats in the U.S. received Christmas gifts this year - a relatively good stash for them, I'd say.  But what about pets from families who can hardly afford to feed them, let alone buy Santa hats for them?

Until recently, one could rarely find a dog toy made of natural organic materials outside of a high-end specialty pet boutique.  High end usually meant high prices, although many environmentally-conscious were willing to pay them.  But it's common now to find dog toys mass marketed with both their stuffing and the adorable, colorful character patterns in totally organic materials... and they're much more affordable.

This is the fifth year of my best Halloween costumes for pets blog.  This year I'm seeing more originality in handmade pet costumes and less in the traditional ready-to-wear pet costumes.  But it wasn't hard to find plenty of super entries vying for Best Look-Alikes, Sexiest, Dumbest, Funniest, Scariest, Best Prehistoric, and more categories...

A year ago, it was hard to find biodegradable dog poop bags.  Now, they're everywhere. In fact, many of today's biodegradables are also water soluble and, therefore, flushable.  This is great news because, according to the Enviromental Protection Agency, "Flushing pet waste is the best disposal method."  But not everyone with a toilet can flush pet poop, even in a flushable bag...
