For the little fashionista who loves dressing up and trying
on makeup, this "handy" little gadget is sure to be a great big hit with girls
of all ages!
Barbie B-Nails is the first product in Mattel’s new
"Beautronics" line. The pretty-in-pink digital device, which connects to a laptop or desktop computer, prints pre-made
or handmade designs directly onto the user’s fingernail in a matter of
seconds. Now anyone can do their nails
from the comfort of their own home, for a fraction of the cost of an expensive
manicure.
Although one nail is done at a time, the customized manicure
process couldn’t be simpler. Coat the
fingernail with a non-toxic basecoat and place the finger in Barbie B-Nails
machine. A quick push of the button takes a picture of the nail for proper
alignment. Next, select a fun pre-made design, included in the software
package, or create your very own unique design.
Once the fingernail design has been selected, align the design to fit properly
on the nail. Press the button and you have a customized fingernail design in
seconds. Apply a topcoat of polish and your design will stay in place just like
the real thing.
This new product, which includes the glossy pink printer and
software, was a great big hit at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. You can see the product in action below:
Designed for children eight and above, Barbie
B-Nails is expected to be in stores sometime this summer or fall. No price point has been set. Perfect for parties and sleepovers, this
little gadget is sure to be a big seller for Christmas next year (Update: This product is now available in stores and online at sites like Amazon here.)
