Remember the Seinfeld episode "The Contest" aka "Master of Your Domain," when Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer were tasked with controlling sudden urges? As an analogy to that condition, all of our pent-up anger over the Gulf Oil disaster has no easy or satisfactory means for release. That is, until now. With the introduction of a new game – Zippi Networks has developed an app to help us vent.
How often has it been said, when all else fails, add it a little levity to the situation. With the BP Gulf disaster still weighing heavily on our minds for the past two months, I took that approach last week, with a post I called, "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Gulf Oil Spill- YouTube Tonight!" This week, I was scratching my head trying to find anything else that was funny about BP — and then, I ran across an application that’s about to be released.
Zippi Networks, an applications developer focused on entertainment and social networking games debuted its "BP Blaster." Pitched at those that who are angry with the oil spill and its lagging resolution, the BP Blaster game will allow folks to vent those frustrations, in a light-hearted way.
Submitted for approval to Apple on June 18, you can be one of the first on your block to obtain the blaster when it hits the market. And when it does roll out, you can personally take control of the situation in the Gulf by containing and blowing up "BP Logos" as they lift from their oil tankers. The Web site indicates that containment is essential, less you let one of the logos hit the top of screen causing another oil spill that you’ll only have yourself to blame.
Apparently when it does launch, there will be three levels of game play that will challenge the most skilled players who will want some advanced interaction.
According to their press release, with its current release of "BP Blaster", Zippi continues development on its "Zippi Swap" application as well. The company has stated it is running several application development cycles in parallel, and will continue to release applications as they have been tested and completed. Zippi is targeting the release date of its "Zippi Swap" application for August 2010.
Robert A. Rositano Jr., CEO of Zippi Networks, Inc., stated, "We have embraced the power of mobile applications within the Zippi business model, and now that we have several applications in development the company intends to continue filling the pipeline with a variety of applications, while launching new ones as they become available. Whether we decide to build or buy for the future, Zippi is marching toward a variety of apps in several different categories for 2010."
