College Inventors Challenge Poster Inventors Digest has partnered with the National Collegiate Inventors & Innovators Alliance (NCIIA) to host the the 2010 Collegiate Alt-Energy Challenge: Help Save The World One Kilowatt at a Time. The challenge is seeking ideas for innovative low-cost, alternative energy technologies, products, solutions, and services that will help assuage the cycle of poverty, malnutrition, disease and death among peoples of the world that live without electricity.
This competition, like the NCIIA’s other collegiate sponsorships, is no small feat, but our college and university research departments are producing the next generation of technology leaders. For this Alt-Energy Challenge, students are asked to submit applications through Edison Nation’s open innovation platform that ensures intellectual property protection and preserves potential licensing opportunities.
Submissions are in the form of videos, 2 minutes or less in length, that must clearly describe the technology, tool, product, or service the entrant has invented. The invention must be based on scientific, engineering or physics principles as determined by the sponsors. Winning videos must demonstrate imagination, innovative implementation, deployability and scalable attributes of the invention. There will be 25 finalists and, potentially, a Grand Prize Winner.
Deadline for submissions is July 31, 2010, 5:00 P.M. Eastern (US). There are three phases of the judging process that will take place between the end of July and August 31, 2010, when the winner(s) will be announced.
