As far as food preparation goes, sandwiches are low on the technique scale. They are one of the first food items that most of us learn to make ourselves. However, that doesn’t mean that we always have time to make them. This is obvious when you look at the popularity of sub shops and sandwich counters these days. It is a fast paced world that we live in and sometimes stopping to make a sandwich or two is just not possible. I suppose that these occasions are the inspiration for the soon-to-hit-the-market Candwich.
What is a Candwich? Dare you ask? Yes, as the name implies, it is a sandwich packaged in a can. There will be three tempting flavor options to select from – peanut butter and grape jam, peanut butter and strawberry jam and BBQ chicken. I have to admit that I have seen pretty disgusting looking regular sandwiches on some convenience store shelves, so I suppose that the PBJ Candwich options have got to be better than this, right? The thought of the BBQ chicken one does make me a lot more uneasy though.
The sandwiches are said to have a long shelf life, making them a good option in case of emergency. I suppose that tossing a couple of these in the trunk of your car or in your backpack in case you are in an unexpected situation and cannot get food for a while may not be a bad idea. I am curious about how well they will do outside of that.
