Nissin Food Products launched the world’s first Cup Noodle on September 18th, 1971, a date everyone from college students to overworked cubicle denizens should respect and revere. To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Cup Noodle, Nissin has announced a clever interactive promotion that encourages noodle-heads to vote for their favorite flavor – to be exact, “which one you’d want to eat again.”
Nissin has set up a dedicated website where voting can be conducted during the allotted time period of April 26th through June 30th, 2011.
Upon conclusion of the voting, a total of 918 voters will be selected at random to receive a free case of 20 Cup Noodles!
There’s more – Nissin will be tallying up the votes to determine the top 3 favorite Cup Noodle varieties from the past 40 years. These 3 flavors will then be reissued with reprinted retro graphics and will be available to retail customers for a full year: November 2011 through November 2012.
Cup Noodle has come a long way since the first flavor (Chicken, in Japan "Chiken") packed in its signature styrofoam cup hit store shelves way back in ’71.
So have their customers, though once you’ve tried the quick & easy rehydrated ramen it’s likely you’ll be hooked for life. And for that, the execs at Nissin must surely be saying “Ramen, brother!”
