Koi provide beauty and serenity to Asian gardens and tranquility to those who watch them. The scale pattern of the Koi fish is so structurally perfect, it is not surprising that architects, designers, and painters have repeated it in so many of their works.

The Koi Chair is Singapore-based designer Jarrod Lim‘s tribute to the Koi, which like the Koi should be seen from all angles.

The Koi’s scales have been carved out of wrought iron in this chair, and are as perfectly formed and harmonious as those of the Koi. Though iron (strong and resistant), the Koi Chair scales are delicate and appear to be light-weight, incorporating a multitude of scales into one big scale which becomes the frame of the chair.

Like Koi fish scales when seen from different angles, the Koi Chair scales look different also, depending on your point of view….
