Waffles are great aren’t they? They are like pancakes, but better. They have that great texture to trap all of the good stuff – plus they just look cool! In Hong Kong they have taken things one step further with “egg waffles”. These unique waffle creations have a bubble wrap type texture and just look like so much fun to eat.
In Hong Kong egg waffles are apparently sold by sidewalk vendors and are popular because they can easily be broken apart and enjoyed on the go. They are often topped simply with a sprinkling of confectioners’ sugar.
The waffle pans to create them are now available here in North America from Nordic Ware. The pan is made of cast aluminum to keep heat evenly distributed and the coating is non-stick to allow for easy release.
The waffles created by this special pan are said to be crisp on the outside and velvety in the center. I bet kids would gobble these things up!
