Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, the nation’s number sex therapist and octogenarian love ambassador, Dr Ruth Westheimer thinks "stimulus" is the operative word for her new campaign to promote a 28-day romance stimulus plan for the US capital.
Dr RuthTeaming up with the city of Washington,DC, Dr Ruth will serve as the honorary US Secretary of Love and Relations for the entire month of February. It appears that out of the majority of cities in the US, Washington DC is not perceived as a destination for romantic get-aways (which makes sense since most politicians prefer to conduct their sexapades outside of the Beltway!).
The tourism program developed by DC Councilman at Large Kwame Brown is part of promotion called "Date Kwame Brown Nights DC" and a larger push by DC’s official tourism industry to capitalize on the national attention that the Obamas have created with their publicized romantic outings. The "Department of Love and Relationships," staffed with hospitality and tourism professionals and headed up by Dr Ruth is an attempt to boost hotels, museums, entertainment venues and restaurants in the DC area.
The "Date Nights DC" Web site has even appointed a "Date Concierge" that will actually help you coordinate that special date when you visit the city in February.
So it’s up to the ‘love doctor’ to re-package DC’s negative perception and stimulate a little hanky-panky intrigue in the nation’s capital. According to an throughout the month of February, Washington will Dr Ruth & ‘waxed’ Obamas at Madame Tussaud’s be offering discounts and two-for-the-price-of-one deals at such places as Madame Tussaud’s Museum. Destination DC worked in cooperation with businesses and tourist attractions throughout DC.
Participating vendors are offering special deals, from the International Spy Museum (the “Love a Spy” package) and the Newseum (“Will You Be My Co-Anchor?”) to local restaurants across the city, such as TenPenh, DC Coast, Acadiana and Zentan, not to mention hotels that are offering special-rate “Date Nights DC” reservations.
So consider a visit to DC this Valentine’s Day. If anyone can stimulate a little sex, er.. love in DC it’s Dr. Ruth. She might be only 4’7" tall, but she sure knows how to talk a big game about getting a little something, something!
