German design student Robert Hoffman has designed a series of modular lights for the DMY 2009 International Design Festival in Berlin. Made from aluminum and steel, these lights sport adjustable panels that the user can spin or rotate to allow more or less light to escape while also playing with the essential form of the lamp itself.
As you can see from the series below, Hoffman has crafted a wall-mounted version, as well as a table lamp and suspended, chandelier style. While these might not fit with traditional design schemes, this type of modular lighting could fit very well into the modern home, with its clean lines and simple elements. The added novelty of user interaction makes them all the more appealing. Perhaps version 2.0 would offer a variety of different shapes to further enhance user interaction.
