Canadian Tire has announced it will reduce its corporate staff as part of a transformation and modernization push. The company aims to maintain competitiveness in a new era of retail. “Changes are underway, and we are altering various processes and teams to transform and modernize,” the company stated.

While some corporate roles are expanding, others are being eliminated. The company declined to specify the number of jobs affected. However, a spokesperson confirmed that the changes would result in an overall decrease in corporate roles.

Modernizing corporate structure

The reductions do not involve positions in Canadian Tire stores. The company did not disclose the locations of the affected roles.

In March, Canadian Tire announced a $2 billion investment over four years to restructure the company for future growth. Last November, it revealed plans to shed three per cent of its full-time workforce. “While these changes are difficult, they are necessary to ensure that we remain a strong retailer, job creator, and contributor to the Canadian economy well into the future,” the statement read.

Canadian Tire sells a wide variety of products, including automotive parts, sporting goods, hardware, building supplies, and small kitchen appliances. It operates stores in every Canadian province as well as in Yukon and the Northwest Territories.
