NASA announced a new partnership with Netflix on Monday that will bring live space programming to the streaming service this summer. Subscribers will be able to watch livestreams of rocket launches, astronaut spacewalks, and live views of Earth from the International Space Station. This collaboration will also include additional content from NASA’s ad-free streaming app, NASA+, which launched in 2023.

The partnership signifies Netflix’s attempt to broaden its live programming, which has mainly focused on stand-up comedy, awards shows, special events, and sports. “The National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958 calls on us to share our story of space exploration with the broadest possible audience,” said Rebecca Sirmons, general manager of NASA+ at the agency’s headquarters in Washington. “Together, we’re committed to a Golden Age of Innovation and Exploration – inspiring new generations – right from the comfort of their couch or in the palm of their hand from their phone.”
This is not NASA’s first time partnering with a streaming service.

NASA also maintains a strong presence on YouTube and features NASA+ content for free on its app.
The goal of this partnership is to bring the excitement of NASA’s discoveries, inventions, and space exploration to people, wherever they are. The agency aims to increase engagement with and inspire a global audience in a modern media landscape. While NASA did not disclose the financial details of the deal, the partnership aligns with the current surge in commercial rocket launches.
For instance, Elon Musk’s SpaceX has conducted 81 launches in the first half of 2025 and remains the only U.S. company with a spacecraft certified to bring astronauts to the International Space Station. Shares of Netflix, which has more than 700 million subscribers, have increased by almost 51% since the beginning of the year. This streaming partnership marks a significant step in NASA’s mission to engage with the public and spark interest in space exploration.
