Microsoft is rolling out updates to Windows 11 for Insider testers, including improvements to the Task Manager and multi-monitor support.
Why it matters: These changes address long-standing user feedback and bring back features that were missing from the initial Windows 11 release.
The details:
- The Task Manager now uses consistent metrics across all tabs to display CPU usage, aligning with industry standards and third-party tools.
- Users can access the calendar and Notification Center from the taskbar on secondary monitors, a feature that was available in Windows 10 but removed in Windows 11.
- Other updates include “agent-powered search” capabilities for Intel and AMD Copilot+ PCs and a tutorial for the “Click to Do” feature.
- Microsoft is also tweaking the “Second Chance Out of Box Experience” (SCOOBE) window, which can be disabled through Settings.
These features are being tested in various Windows Insider program channels, with those in the Beta channel likely close to public release.
What’s next: Microsoft is preparing to release this year’s significant annual update, which will enable several new features for PCs running version 24H2.
